THANK YOU!!: 2007 Smart Growth Summit a Great Success!
The Summit is LI’s premier land use conference. 15 workshops featuring 70 speakers covered housing, energy, global warming, transportation, design and regulatory issues, major developments and more. Our government plenary saw Town Supervisors discussing their need to step up and take responsibility. Over 700 guests shared experiences and connected on key issues. A draft Blueprint was put forth, attempting to distill what we’ve learned from all of you over the last ten years into concise, doable strategies.
Check out the 11/19 Smart Growth News for an initial summary and images from the event. Also, see bios of all speakers(pdf), arranged by work session. We are now reviewing the tapes and attempting to capture all of the ideas put forward. Watch for newsletter features covering this. For now, we hope you will take the energy, enthusiasm, and synergy we have generated into your work with communities and your professional roles.
Check out coverage in Long Island Business News from November 23rd and November 16th as well as in Newsday. Also see Joye Brown's review of the Rechler's presentation on the Lighthouse proposal for the Nassau Hub. Contact us, for video transcripts of any session or to comment on the event.
